The X-Men and Fantastic Four have ventured into space to once again defeat the Z'Nox, however, Jean Grey has been taken over by a mysterious phoenix-like force. The entity uses it to kill Cyclops and Beast, at which point Crystal attempts to restrain it using her elemental powers! Meanwhile, in the Savage Land, Iceman has lost his memories, and Karl Lykos is worried that he may discover his secret identity of Sauron, an old enemy of the X-Men. Angel still has not returned from his mission to the Savage Land, and Candy Southern has an important message from him at the Xavier Institute.
