Supreme continues to confront Vanguard while in orbit, which leads to a hot-tempered battle between the two. Vanguard is eventually beaten by the respected hero, and is left unconscious in front of a branch of the Chicago Police Dept. Vanguard's helmet, however, which he uses to translate and speak alien languages, is lost and damaged during the battle, but is discovered by news reporter Roxanne wells. In a back up story, a prior story is told of the time a Cosmo VII robot from the Soviet Union attacks Vanguard in his space station, drawing him to Earth, creating tension between the USA and certain officials in the USSR. The back-up story is a reprint of Erik Larsen's first work in comic books, from Megaton #1, in 1982.
