Synopsis

BLACK VAN At the Police Conference in Atlantic City, George Stacy talks with his fellow cops when they hear a scream. Spider-Man is robbing an armored car and Stacy yells for him to surrender. At Midtown High, Peter Parker is not feeling well and goes to the nurse, but finds a note in his locker telling him to go outside to a black van for medical assistance. Peter goes outside and finds Janet van Dyne, who says Nick Fury sent her to help Peter with the shoulder, and gives him an injection and bandages him up. Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson walk home from school with Peter, and Gwen says that she knows the pairs secret: they are sneaking around together at night. They see police cars outside Peter's house, and run inside to see May and two cops who hand Gwen her father's badge. Ben Urich interviews several people who say the three cops ran after Spider-Man, but he fled and a bullet hit his backpack. It started smoking and he threw it at the cops, but it was going to land near a little boy. Stacy ran at the boy and shoved him out of the way, and the backpack landed in his lap and exploded, killing him. On Peter's roof, Mary Jane and Peter try to comfort Gwen, but she wants to be alone. At the Daily Bugle, Urich runs to cover another Spider-Man robbery, and Peter arrives at the crime scene, a bank with hostages, as Spider-Man. Inside, Peter sees Spider-Man holding a woman at knife-point.
