Story continues from The Tenth (1997) #4. Sadly, the blood he got from Esperanza was not enough help for long, as Victor has once again turned into the Tenth and the sudden transformation has wrecked the car. Hitchhiking proves ineffective when the driver spots the Tenth. Hiding from sight, a passing police car with a dog in the back stops and offers the two girls a lift. Espy tells the two officers that Zorina is sick and quite contagious so it’d be best if she ride’s in the back. They get the dog out, leave him their food so he won’t make a sound, and the Tenth sneaks in the back with Zorina. Not far into the trip they get a blowout, with a pitch black cloud ahead and just a bit of rain falling, but only for an instant. It wasn’t rain though, it’s the Army of Darkness. The police officers don’t stand a chance, but Espy and the Tenth quickly defeat them, with Zorina shooting the last, and biggest one with the shotgun from one of the officers. Their car has been too heavily damaged during the battle for them to use it. The body parts of the Army of Darkness then goes back up, into the pitch black cloud. Because he has no choice, the Tenth uses the blood from the dead officers to return to his human form, so they have a better chance to get picked up while they once again try to hitch a ride. Story continues in The Tenth (September 1997) #1.
