A ZERO HOUR tie-in! Dramatic changes occur in Steel's life when his armor suddenly takes on new and astonishing capabilities. But there may be even more to this development than meets the eye when Hazard raises the question: is John Henry Irons a metahuman?A Zero Month crossover issue. The issue opens with Steel’s mother telling her son the story of his namesake, John Henry, and his race against the steam-driven steel drill. As we learn the origin of Steel (the death of his mother, Superman saving his life, Superman’s death and the debut off Steel), in the present, Steel is protecting the streets. He intercepts an assassination attempt on Senator Weaver. While investigating, Steel is attacked by super-villains Shellshock, Mainline, Split, and Hardshell, all working for Hazard and Ameritek. Steel is captured and unarmed, but just as Hazard shoots him in the head, the armor materializes around John Henry. With his armor, Steel breaks out, and Hazard and company flee.
