Synopsis

Surfer encounters the Gargoyle!  Summary The Silver Surfer has not been this happy in a long time since he has Alicia Master's at his side. The Surfer is trying to just fit in with the humans and take a drive across the country. The car breaks down so the Surfer breaks the rules and makes it fly. During their flight, the Surfer sees a familiar character, the Gargoyle. But something is wrong, and the Gargoyle attacks.  When the Surfer attacks his pure energy seems to drive some dark force from Gargoyle. When he wakes he tells them that he has been sent to find the Surfer by a group of ancient beings trying to stop an ancient evil, but was possessed by the dark force. They go outside and they soon realize the small New Hampshire town they are in is empty.  They find themselves face to face with a man called the Coroner. He tells them of a evil being he has contacted that heads for the Surfer and for Earth. But the Surfer cannot act, so long as the Coroner possesses the souls of the townspeople. The Surfer tells him to leave Alicia and Gargoyle out of it.   Gargoyle attacks but the Coroner is too powerful and turns him into stone. He then opens some type of gateway and the Surfer and Alicia are pulled in.
