"Magic & Loss" Written by Warren Ellis. Art and cover by John Cassady. A Planetary support team tears down the New York penthouse laboratory of the "Four," finding strange artifacts that seem to defy explanation. Among them: a tiny spacecraft, perhaps big enough for a baby; a lantern with no bulb or wick; and bracelets made of something harder than diamond. Exactly how much of the world's intended history did the Four change... or kill? The three heroes are homages to Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. This issue became a basis for Planetary/JLA: Terra Occulta. The Planetary version of Wonder Woman that appears in this issue also appears in Terra Occulta. Randall Dowling mentions to be an associate of Henry Bendix, who was the former Weatherman of StormWatch. Also, it is implied that the lantern that belongs to its deceased owner was later employed to one of Bendix's superhuman, Lamplight. The three artifacts and their history are reminiscent of Superman (the blanket); Wonder Woman (the bracelets), and Green Lantern [Hal Jordan] (the lantern).
