Synopsis

Red Flame of Courage: While motoring to a new Farm Program assignment in east Africa, the Martins discover a railroad trestle destroyed by a torrent. As night falls, they post flares along the track to warn oncoming trains. Lassie and Timmy swim the river to post flares on the opposite bank. In Nairobi, their heroic deed is printed in the morning newspapers and hotel personnel give them the red carpet treatment when they arrive. Kyan Zit's Revenge: U Po Net receives treatment for his cataracts. Kyan Zit is poisoned to create a distraction while the sleeping U Po Net is robbed of his rupees. Later, Kyan Zit identifies Ramyo, the doctor's assistant, as the man who poisoned him. U Po Net's rupees are discovered in Ramyo's turban. Screams in the Night: The Martins accept an assignment in Uganda and on the way, they meet Dr. Johnson, headmaster of the Mission School at Moroto. Dr. Johnson becomes their guide through the wild countryside and the party meet with various dangers. Elephant poachers cause a stampede and Lassie risks her life to save her humans. In setting up camp, the party disturbs two sleeping leopards and the elephants again harass the travelers. In the morning, the Martins discover the herd has wrecked their trailer. The party finally reaches Moroto where they are welcomed by the villagers.
