Synopsis

MURDER BY MELODY! After an initial defeat, the Justice League sets out to find Allegro's power source. They learn that Allegro's synthesizer is magically imbued by a powerful spell from an ancient book. Knowing the nature of his power, the League confronts Allegro and Zatanna magically enhances Black Canary's scream in order to distract Allegro and allow the rest of the League to stop him for good.   Once the threat of Allegro has been dealt with, the heroes take his magical synthesizer and send the madman to Arkham Asylum. Back at the JL Satelllite, Zatara reveals to the League his past and how he first met Sindella, while fighting King Inferno in Turkey. Zatara was rescued by Sindella after the battle and they fell in love almost immediately. Sindella and Zatara started a relationship, but she asked him to never inquire about her origins. A year after the wedding, Sindella gave birth to Zatanna, but shortly afterwards, she was killed in a car crash, although her body was never found. However, now that Zatanna has adopted the same costume of her mother, Zatara deduces that Sindella is still alive and trying to establish a connection with her daughter.   The League travels to Turkey, where Zatanna plays the enchanted synthesizer while Zatara protects his daughter from going mad. The magical music created by the instrument opens a strange portal to a hidden city and when the heroes cross the portal, they are attacked by an ancient civilazation, who call themselves "The Hidden Ones". This city is the home of a race of magically powered humans and soon, the heroes learn that these people are Sindella's own race. The leader of "The Hidden Ones", a powerful man called Highlord, reveals that they have retrieved Sindella from Zatara and that they will remove her life force from her brain and then, they will capture Zatanna and make her take her mother's place.
