"Only the Dead Know Bialya!" Following the murder of Colonel Rumaan Harjavti, the Queen Bee declares herself the new ruler of Bialya. Batman disguises himself as Maxwell Lord and tries to track down his undercover assistant Green Flame, while Blue Beetle and Booster Gold are taken into custody. News of Harjavti's death reaches the Justice League Embassy in New York City. Captain Atom is furious that Batman undertook this mission and decides to fly to Bialya to extricate the League. Back in Bialya, Booster Gold manages to knock out a prison guard and to free himself and Beetle. They meet up with Batman and Green Flame in the back alleys of the royal palace. While trying to leave the country, they run straight into the Queen Bee's secret weapon—the horribly disfigured and mind-controlled Wandjina. Fortunately, Captain Atom arrives to give them some back-up. Captain Atom and Wandjina pit their powers against one another, but Atom emerges victorious. Batman is unimpressed with Atom's showy demonstration and doesn't appreciate his interference in the mission. The Queen Bee arrives and tells the League that she will be happy to let them return to the United States of America. She coyly remarks that it is too early in her reign to concern herself with international incidents. Meanwhile, Big Barda, the Martian Manhunter, G'nort, and Rocket Red continue their search for Mister Miracle. Barda uses technology from her Mega-Rod to give their ship warp-drive capabilities. Within the Cluster Ship where Miracle is held, Lord Manga Khan receives word that his prisoner is a New God. He decides to go to Apokolips to barter with Darkseid over Mister Miracle's life.
