After his trial, the X-Men had left Gambit without them in Antarctica. Fending for himself and trekking through the cold for days, Gambit had woken up for an unconscious state only to stumble upon the New Son. The New Son had explained that he worked for the people that had saved him from the cold. In return, he requested that Gambit go to the Savage Land and find the "sigil".Once in the Savage Land, Gambit finds what he was looking for, a huge building built by the High Evolutionary. Once inside, Gambit fights with the many guards there, but manages to find the sigil, only to find out that it is actually a she. Gambit manages to capture her, but when he does, he falls dizzy and feverish. A green sentient substance is expelled from Gambit and reveals that she is what had protected Gambit from the Antarctic cold and climate for so long and in return he will do something for her. She goes back inside him. Before leaving, the "sigil", also called Courier, goes to find a terraformer, a program similar to what was used to create the Savage Land. Upon finding this out, Gambit tried to stop Courier thinking that the program will only be used for bad.
