Even if Salinger is safely locked-up in a mental institution, perhaps the Fool Killer's mission can still continue.The Foolkiller's first kill is self-defense, something he can emotionally deal with. Then he goes out and purposely confronts criminals%3B he ends up killing them. This intentional confrontation causes great guilt.
