THE MENACE OF MULTIPLE CREATURE Batman and Robin tackle a creature created by lightning and a pool of chemical waste, that can mutate into different shapes, and which brings changes into the lives of the people who encounter it. Batman and Robin are unable to defeat the creature by normal means and they warn the nearest town about the danger. With help from the people of the town, Batman manages to stab a harpoon on the creature's leg. The harpoon is connected to the main electric power plant and when Robin turns the power on, the same process of its creation is duplicated and the creature disappears, leaving only water in its place. THE GIRL WITH DEADLY GAZE CASE OF THE HONEST SWINDLER J'onn J'onzz's friend Larry Loder lost many people their life's savings when his business, in which they had invested, went bankrupt. But Larry thinks that he can bring in riches and pay off his investors by means of three "magic" devices which a stranger gave him. Unknown to Larry, the stranger was gangster Jed Peters, who figures that the Martian will lend a hand to Peters and make the "magic" devices actually attract wealth--which J'onzz does. Peters intends to steal the gold secretly mined by J'onzz and given to Loder. But the Manhunter secretly brings in Peters and his gang in a way that makes it seem as though Loder's third magic gimmick actually worked, and Loder collects the reward for bringing in Peters.
