THE SHORT ROAD Catwoman, wearing her old purple catsuit costume, looks around her hideout for the gun she purchased from Gigo's Auto Repair. She finds the photos she stole from Fluffy Meeks's penthouse, but not the gun. She remembers the man named "Banner," who stole the explosives truck, and that he was at the garage when she bought the gun. She figures she can return to the garage, find Banner, buy a new gun, and return to kill the man she has tied up in her hideout--a man she believes to be Police Commissioner James Gordon. Catwoman arrives at Gigo's in the same disguise she wore previously, and she asks for a gun just like the one he made her last time. She is taken aback to learn that she returned the gun. She quickly states she simply left it to be fixed and that she wanted it back. Gigo claims he hasn't had time to work on it, but she can come back for it in a couple of days. As she leaves, Gigo says, "Dag! Crazy witch gonna ruin everything." Catwoman runs to catch up to the Banner. She tells him that she wants to trade the truck of explosives he stole for "someone that Batman cares for very much." The Banner agrees to meet her that night. Gigo's associate is eavesdropping, and he tells his boss about the meetup. They decide Catwoman is too unstable to just forget about. They call in a tip to the GCPD about the meeting. Detective Kelly and Detective Costas visit Maria, an old woman who was picked up for vagrancy while wearing Catwoman's old purple costume,[5] at an asylum run by Director Norsing. The detectives want to show Maria some pictures to see if the "Deezee woman" that threw away the costume is in any of them. Before they can, however, they're called back into the station. The GCPD has received a tip on Banner's whereabouts that night. Back at her hideout, Catwoman tells her prisoner that he needs to pull himself together before her guest gets there to meet her. She goes into the other room where she has a conversation with her mirror reflection, which is wearing her more recent costume. They argue about the gun and then about inviting the Banner to Selina's apartment. The Banner arrives. Catwoman shows him her prisoner, who she claims is Commissioner Gordon, and she is shocked to learn otherwise. The Banner starts to leave, but the GCPD shows up and a firefight ensues. Catwoman escapes, but her prisoner (now revealed to be Captain Rosetti) is killed in the crossfire. The Banner is arrested and taken away, swearing to track down and kill Catwoman. Catwoman runs across the rooftops. She sees her reflection in a skylight window and holds her head in her hands.
