Cassandra Cain continues her training with Batman who estimates that it will take another year of full effort from her to earn the right of wearing the Batgirl costume again. Cassandra feels that this is inacceptable, so she asks Barbara Gordon to send a message to Lady Shiva. Next night, Shiva and Cassandra meet on a rooftop. Shiva assumes that the young girl wants to challenge her again and, thus, immediately knocks Cassandra down. But instead Cassandra asks for a favor - she would like to be trained by Shiva to be again able to guess her opponent's moves. Having fought her, Shiva thinks this can be achieved very quickly, but she will only do so if one year from now they meet again to fight each other to the death. Cassandra agrees because she will rather be perfect for one year than mediocre for a lifetime. Meanwhile, Batman breaks into the house of David Cain and watches the films showing how Cain trained Cassandra to be a killer. Then Batman confronts Cain - not only because he abused Cassandra with his training methods, but also because he suspects Cain killed two police officers recently. Some time later, Batman and Cassandra meet again. The girl asks Batman to hit her. But now he misses every time because Cassandra's defensive skills are back. Batman does not understand how she did it, but now he has to allow her to be Batgirl again ...
