Batgirl and Robin find themselves on the same case as she investigates the assassin Deadeye and he investigates a crime boss named Vink. They find Vink tied up after Deadeye takes his daughter, and they pursue the assassin, who shoots Batgirl and actually hits her because his cybernetic implants make it impossible for her to read him. He escapes. Robin picks up Deadeye's ransom demand, but Batgirl knows his type and knows he will not let the girl live. They find Deadeye's hideout, and Batgirl charges in and saves the girl in spite of her injury and Deadeye's threat to kill her there. Afterwards, Robin admits that he has been avoiding Batgirl because he is intimidated by her. He has had such a normal upbringing, but Batgirl was raised as an assassin and made herself into one of them. They shake hands as friends.
