TROUBLED WATERS Batgirl is investigating a series of alleged hauntings in Burnside Y., a swimming school. A weird, pinky, swirling shade has been seen in one of the pools by several wittnesses. It hasn't hurt anybody but it's scaring the patrons away. It's gotten so bad even a ghost-finder news-station is looking into the case. During her preliminary research Batgirll notes said shade seems to be drawn to people, and takes a water sample for testing. Tests confirm the pool water is normal, and Barbara is suggested to talk to a physicist like Professor Radden. Barbara has already heard of Radden. When she launched her clean energy company he wrote her a letter offering to "mentor" her. He sounded like a creep hitting on her, so she refused to write back. Barbara considers she needs to read up on him before reaching out. Her research delivers alarming results: he mentored Liana Soto, a missing person who was his lab student. Liana disappeared a few months before Radden published a paper on teleportation devices. Barbara checks Liana's apartment out and confirms her suspicions: Ms. Soto came up with the theory behind Radden's paper. After she built a teleporting device, Radden got rid of her by teleporting her to another dimension in order to steal her research. Upon studying the teleporting mechanics, Barbara guesses the ghost in the pool is Liana trying to make her way back to their world, using the electrical energy of a group of people in the water like a coundit. But since people is scared of her, they get out of the pool before she can rematerialize. Batgirl recruits a group of volunteers and manages to bring Liana back and get Radden jailed.
