Archie

Released August 1968

Synopsis

Cover by Dan DeCarlo & Rudy Lapick. Stories by Frank Doyle and Joe Edwards. Art by Harry Lucey, Joe Edwards, Chic Stone and Marty Epp. In a parody of "Trouble" from THE MUSIC MAN, the narrator explains that Archie has got trouble with a capital T, and that rhymes with P, and that stands for Pool -- that is, the pool in Veronica's house, which tempts Archie to try and live a life of luxury he can't afford! Plus: When Fred makes Archie paint the house, the girls rush over to help Archie, and they mostly succeed in doing physical harm to Fred, in "Paint By Number"; Archie has images of Betty and Veronica on everything, including a reversible picture that allows him to display either one of them depending on who's there, in "Lest You Forget"; Li'l Jinx in the 1-pager "On the Spot" by Joe Edwards; and Archie is despondent about being broke in "Root of Evil"! 32 pages, full color. Cover price $0.12.
