Thor

Creation & Design

Thor was created by writer Stan Lee, along with artist Jack Kirby, and first appeared in 'Journey into Mystery' #83. The character was inspired by the Norse god of thunder and was designed to embody the traits of strength and nobility.

Early Years

Thor's early stories focused on his dual identity as a human doctor, Donald Blake, and his adventures in Asgard. He battled various foes, including Loki, his adoptive brother, and other mythological beings.

Character Development

Over the years, Thor has evolved from a simple superhero into a complex character with rich mythology, exploring themes of worthiness, sacrifice, and the balance between power and responsibility.

Thor has been well-received by audiences and critics alike, becoming one of Marvel's most iconic characters, especially with the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Origin of Mjolnir, Thor's hammer, specifically its power stems from a cosmic, world-destroying storm trapped by Odin in Uru metal, forged into a hammer and enchanted so only those who are worthy could lift it. The storm was referred to as God Tempest, the Mother of Thunder

[December 2021 - the God of Hammers arc could be an expansion of this origin or at least inspired by it]
