Batwing was created by Grant Morrison and first appeared in Batman, Incorporated. He was designed to represent a new kind of hero in the Batman mythos, specifically tailored to the African continent.

Early Years

David Zavimbe was a child soldier in the Congo before becoming a vigilante. He was trained by Batman and became the first African member of Batman Incorporated.

Over the years, Batwing has evolved from a side character in Batman's world to a fully fleshed-out hero with his own storylines, challenges, and growth, representing African culture and issues in the superhero genre.
